Neutrals. Love 'em. It's practically all I wear and I usually swoon for almost any good neutral palette that includes some beautiful shimmers and buttery mattes. And if you've followed this blog for any time, you'll know I'm no snob towards drugstore products. 70% of my makeup collection is drugstore.
BUT.
Eyeshadows? Not so much. I've always found most drugstore selections lacking (Maybelline Color Tattoos and L'Oreal Infallible Eyeshadows aside. They're the bomb). So when I make makeup "investments," I tend to do so with good eyeshadow palettes.
Being a neutrals fiend though, I wanted to expand my collection and I couldn't quite find a palette that met my needs. I happened to remember the brand Pop Beauty from a previous Ipsy bag and decided to check out their offerings. As luck would have it, Hautelook was featuring Pop Beauty just a few weeks later and I snagged this beaute of a palette for $9. $9! I believe the full retail price is $24, which is still a steal given the color selection and quality.
With the trio you get, duh, 3 palettes: Espresso, Mocha and Latte. Each palette contains 6 shades, equalling a total of 18 shades. That adds up to about $1.30 per shadow.
Espresso
As expected, the Espresso shades are darkest and richest. All shadows in this palette are varying levels of shimmery and there's a good selection of both warm and cool tones. My favorite at the moment is the third shade from the right and it's what I'm wearing on my lids in the picture below.
Mocha
Again you have a selection of warm and cool tones that pair up nicely with the Espresso palette but Mocha offers only matte shades, which I LOVE. In the picture I'm wearing the one furthest to the right as my transition shade and the third from the left in my crease to create some depth. I also swept these colors along my lower lash line and smudged a bit.
Latte
The lightest of the offerings in the trio, Latte shadows are mainly golden tones with a few peachy and yellowy shades. Most all shades have a heavy shimmer and I'm wearing the third shade from the right in my inner corner. I've also got the second shade from the right swept on my brow bone as a highlight.
Might be time to tame my brows soon.....
If you're in the market for an affordable, high quality neutrals palette, I wholeheartedly recommend the Pop Beauty Caffeine Eye Trio. The color selection should suit most skin types and the shadows are easy to blend. I'm a believer.
Have you tried any Pop Beauty products?
