January Beauty Favorites

Yay!  Monthly favorites!  I continue to be amazed by the passage of time because I can't believe it's February already!  Also, my wedding is in 3 months.  WHAT.  Freaking out.

Ok let's get at it:

Face stuff first.

I've been on quite the foundation kick lately.  I never used to fuss much about foundation (and usually wore none at all) but I'm intrigued lately with finding the finish that works best for me.  I saw this foundation recommended by some of my favorite bloggers and I can see why.  It's so easily blendable, sinks into the skin, offers full coverage and lasts all day.  I'll let you read that last bit again- lasts all day.  For real.  I don't look like I'm melting by the end of the day and that's money well spent.

Part of the not-melting can probably be attributed to this primer.  I've had it for months and generally only saved it (or any primers, really) for occasions when I knew I'd need my makeup to really last.  Meanwhile though, I'd come home after work every day and look a little worse for wear.  So I decided I should just try wearing primers on a more regular basis.  After trying a few primers, I'd have to say this is my favorite.  It doesn't feel slick or oily at all and it lends to a more matte finish, which I prefer.

In my never-ending quest to find the best concealer for my persistent under-eye circles, I've given this a go.  In the interest of full disclosure, the packaging sucked me in because it resembles the Nars concealer packaging but without the $29 price tag.  While it may not provide the full coverage of the Nars concealer, I still find it has decent coverage, no creasing, and easy blending.  Win win win.

This blush is heaven.  I bought it on a whim on Haute Look, having never used Lorac blushes before.  When I first got the package, I was quite alarmed by how orange it appeared in the pan.  However, the moment I swiped it on my cheeks, it's like this blush was made for me.  It's such a warm and subtle shade, perfect for every day.

L'Oreal Liquid Lineur Intense
I've spent the last few months using little to no liquid liner for no other reason than not quite finding the time to ensure the perfect application in the morning.  I started missing a good cat eye so I grabbed my old standby and went to work.  This liner is well pigmented, super easy to apply, and long-wearing.  I'll admit that I tend to see some fading after 10 hours or so but I also have oily lids so it may not be an issue for some people.

L'Oreal Voluminous Butterfly Mascara
This is most certainly one of those mascaras that gets better the longer you have it.  Once the formula dries out a bit, it's easier to work with and creates awesome length with practically no clumping.  In love.

Benefit They're Real
Alright, so I'm one of those girls that wears two mascaras now.  I always reassured myself that as much as I love makeup, at least I wasn't one of those girls that uses two mascaras.  How ridiculous! And yet here we are.  Completely on a whim, I layered this over the Butterfly mascara it truly looked like false lashes.  The formula is so black and volumizing.  And now I can't quit it.  Send help.

Lorac Multiplex Lipgloss in Polished
Another Haute Look steal and a great one at that.  In the tube it doesn't look like anything fancy but on the lips?  YES please.  It has an insane iridescence that makes your lips look 3D (even though your lips are already 3D).  It's my no-brainer shade that's always in my purse.

Buxom Lipgloss in Dolly
This was a delightful Ipsy Bag goody and I couldn't be happier.  This is the tingly kind of lip gloss (that I really enjoy) that provides a semi-sheer swipe of color.  Perhaps the best part is that this is by-far my longest lasting lipgloss.  The tingle lasts for about 2 hours and the color lasts for hours beyond that.  Another purse staple.

This list a bit shorter than past months (focusing more on quality over quantity these days) but I'm still pleased as punch.  So what are your favorites this month?

  1. I always use a light foundation for the very reason that most don't last long. So it was a pleasure to find out about cover outlast. Cool. I will put it to the test

    1. I really think you'll like this then! I tend to have oily skin and it still stays fresh on me aside from a slightly oily T-zone.
